Dave has over 45 years of experience in architecture and interior projects that encompass many innovations in urban design such as mixed-use, high-end residential and retail, with a particular interest in historic preservation and adaptive re-use. With both public and private sector clients, he brings modern trends as well as his own personalized design philosophy to each project.
SCOTT O. CORWIN, ASSOC. AIA, PARTNER
Although he started his career as a Manhattan stockbroker, after moving to Richmond and working construction, Scott was inspired to earn a master’s in architecture. With the company since its inception in 2000, here he seeks to integrate rationality and meaning into efficient designs. Scott currently works on committees of the Princeton Association of Virginia, Greater Richmond Association for Commercial Real Estate (GRACRE), and the AIA Richmond Chapter.
ANDY SCUDDER, AIA, PARTNER
Andy’s passion is creating and influencing the places where communities play, live, work and come together. Authenticity, harmony and efficiency are values that he incorporates in every project. He considers the client’s needs and wants as well as their inspirations to create beautifully balanced designs. He has volunteered with the Museum District Association, JRGBC, Modern Richmond, Richmond Development Community and City of Richmond Planning efforts.
ANNE DURKIN, ASSOC. AIA
Anne has been practicing architecture for over 25 years and what continues to resonate for her are the people and community that influence our built environment, and the critical need to maintain a healthy planet to sustain us all. Her approach to design is to be sensitive to scale and material and to consider how innovation, form, space and detail can help create sustainable and beautiful spaces. She enjoys that creative challenge.
NATHAN C. MARCH, ARCHITECTURAL ASSOCIATE
Nathan has always had an interest in architecture. From an early age he has been involved in the arts and architecture is what brought it all together for him. Nathan has received his Bachelors of Architecture from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY and joined Johannas Design Group in the summer of 2015. In his spare time he pursues music as a percussionist, watercolor painting, and jewelry designing.
DANIEL P. WASSUM, RA
Born and raised in Virginia, Daniel is passionate about creating authentic spaces aesthetically rooted in their surrounding region and culture. Joining Johannas Design Group in the summer of 2016, Daniel pursues the challenge of creating design that reflects the city of Richmond and fosters its sense of community. In his spare time he enjoys sketching, playing music, and sampling the region’s burgeoning craft beer scene.
KEVIN P. SCHRACK II, RA
Kevin has worked professionally since 2010, and is interested in vernacular and symbolic architecture, and urban design. He sees drawing as the primary means to communicate both aesthetic intent and construction directive. After earning a Bachelors Degree in Art and Art History in 2005 at the College of William & Mary, he earned his Masters in Architecture in 2009 at the Rhode Island School of Design. Kevin has worked on a variety of projects including commercial, residential, civic, municipal, and historic. Johannas Design Group gives him the opportunity to work on multi-family and urban-scale projects in and around Richmond, a city he loves.
EVAN MACKENZIE, ARCHITECT
Evan, a Richmond native and a Hokie, brings 18 years of nationwide project experience to our team. His expertise lies in collaborating with clients to reimagine existing spaces, specializing in residential renovations and additions as well as unique commercial and community projects.
Off the clock, Evan is a dedicated learner, always starting new projects, and forever in search of just the right song for a playlist. Currently, he’s enjoying the daily challenges and triumphs of being a new dad.
TALIA MOORE-O'NEILL, ARCHITECTURAL ASSOCIATE
Talia is excited to return to the JDG team after completing her Master of Architecture degree at VT's Washington-Alexandria Architecture Center this spring. She did her undergraduate degree at the University of Virginia and is particularly interested in city walkability and how people dwell. When not drawing Talia enjoys sailing, riding horses, and obsessing over her very spoiled dog.
MELISA ROSS, OFFICE MANAGER
Melisa has a very diverse background ranging in non-profit and event management, professional organization, software technology and fashion wholesale. She has always been passionate about creativity and problem solving with an emphasis on community connection. Melisa's favorite things include discovering new Richmond restaurants and cooking, spending time with her husband and animals, fashion styling, traveling and enjoying nature.
